    • Exercises to strengthen leadership skills:

      • Practice discipline at work and in your personal life. Establish good habits of organization to help you meet deadlines​, keep appointments, and begin/end meetings on time. These are ways you can demonstrate discipline at work.

      • Empower others. Delegate tasks or allow others to take on tasks that will empower them. Everyone has different strengths.  Learn to take on tasks according to your strengths and allow others to take the tasks according to theirs.

    • Journaling Activity:​

      • To determine your strengths and weaknesses, honestly respond to each of the following questions:

        • Do I try to be aware of how others think and feel?​

        • Do I try to help others perform to the best of their ability?

        • Am I willing to accept responsibility?

        • Am I willing to try new ideas and new ways of doing things?

        • Am I able to communicate with others effectively?

        • Am I a good problem solver?

        • Do I accept other perspectives and opinions?

      • Analyze your answers and determine which are your strengths and which are your weaknesses. Develop a strategy to strengthen the weaknesses.

    • A good first step to take:​

      • Volunteer to take on a leadership role either at work or at home. This could be taking the lead on a special project or committee at work, or in a personal setting such as church, charity, or school. ​
