    • Exercises to strengthen communication skills: 

      • Practice making a 1-3 minute speech without using filler words such as “um”, “like”, “uh”, or “so”. 

      • Choose a friend and an object and practice describing the object well enough for the friend to guess what it is. 

      • Choose a friend and an object and ask questions about the object until you can guess what the object is. 

    • Journaling Activity: 

      • Consider each of the following scenarios and write about what communication would look like (both verbal and nonverbal) with a friend and an employer in each: saying goodbye, asking for help, texting, showing excitement
